West Region OPP have launched a week-long campaign focusing on drivers and modified vehicles that put others at risk.
The Drive Smart: Keep it Safe campaign runs through Sunday (Sept. 29).
OPP Sgt. Ed Sanchuk noted the initiative is geared to creating a culture of safety on area roads.
Sanchuk stressed, we all share the responsibility for keeping our roads safe.
He added, the goal of the week-long Drive Smart: Keep it Safe Campaign is not only enforcement but also education.
Stunt driving, including speeding and aggressive maneuvers, poses a significant threat to everyone on the road-drivers, passengers, and pedestrians alike.
He pointed out drivers caught engaging in stunt driving or operating illegally modified vehicles can face substantial fines, points on their license, and even vehicle impoundment.
Insp. Mike McConnell, Traffic and Marine Program Manager, West Region OPP added, “As community members, we must encourage one another to drive responsibly and follow the law. If you see dangerous driving or suspect illegal vehicle modifications, report it. Your vigilance can save lives. Together, we can make our roads safer for everyone. Drive smart, keep it safe.”
