On October 22nd, 1967, Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a missing persons report for two men who left the Port of Goderich for a fishing trip and were never seen again.
The men, Neil Wormsbecker, and Hank Halff, were both from the Stratford, Ontario area.
On October 2, 2024, the OPP asked for public help to find family members of the two men. They received several tips, helping them locate a family member of Mr. Halff. On October 15th, 2024, a second request was made to find family members of Mr. Wormsbecker.
The Huron OPP has now found family members for both men. These relatives have given DNA samples, which will be tested and compared.
The Ontario Center for Missing Persons and Unidentified Remains (ONCMPUR) and the National Missing Persons DNA Program (NMDP) continue to work on solving historical cases to bring closure to families of missing loved ones.
