Farm Credit Canada (FCC) is providing $1.5 million through its FCC AgriSpirit Fund to support 82 rural projects across Canada. The fund, aimed at enhancing community life, awarded $10,000 to $25,000 to various improvement initiatives in towns, cities, and Indigenous communities with populations under 150,000. Over the past 21 years, the FCC AgriSpirit Fund has contributed $22.5 million to nearly 1,700 projects.
In Ontario, projects receiving funding include upgrades for agricultural spaces, greenhouses, food banks, and community kitchens in various towns. These improvements will help communities by boosting food security, enhancing event spaces, and offering educational resources.
Locally, the Huron County Food Bank Distribution Centre Inc. will be receiving $25,000 to expand the food bank’s walk-in cooler.
