The village of Bayfield is gearing up for its annual “Christmas in Bayfield” festival, scheduled for November 15th-17th. This event, a highlight for the community for over three decades, transforms Bayfield into a picturesque holiday wonderland filled with festive lights, cozy fire pits, and events for everyone in the family.
According to Wendy Vasco, marketing manager for the Bayfield and Area Chamber of Commerce, the festival kicks off on Friday with shopping, dining, and live entertainment.
The highlight of the evening is the 7 p.m. tree lighting ceremony, which will feature a special appearance by Santa. Following the ceremony, visitors can snap photos at the snowflake stations or stroll through the village’s shops and restaurants, all decked out for the season.
Saturday brings even more excitement, starting with the annual Santa Claus Parade at 11 a.m. The festivities continue throughout the afternoon with activities from noon to 4 p.m., including horse-drawn carriage rides, live wood carving, face painting for kids, and more chances for shopping and dining.
New this year, Sunday will be a “Sunday Fun Day,” with mini outdoor rinks, ski puck games, and electronic hockey nets set up on the street for families to enjoy. The street in front of Market 29 will be closed off to allow kids and adults to have fun while families can shop or dine nearby.
As in previous years, the event is free to attend, thanks to the generous support of local sponsors. Wendy emphasizes that the festival wouldn’t be possible without the hard work of volunteers who help make the event run smoothly.
