A doctor and developer from Seaforth is interested in buying the Bayfield Lions Community Building to create a local medical clinic. In response, the Bluewater Council recently declared the building as “surplus to requirements,” opening it up for possible sale.
Councillor Bill Whetstone will host a monthly “Councillor’s Corner” session on Wednesday, November 13th, at 6:30 p.m. at the Bayfield Community Centre where he plans to address questions about the proposed clinic and explain how the municipality would handle the needs of current users of the Lions Community Building, which includes a local Food Bank and over a dozen community groups.
The idea of a new medical clinic has raised excitement but also led to many questions from residents. Residents want to know if council has reviewed the long-term business plan for the clinic, how other nearby clinics might be affected, and if funds from the building’s sale would support other community needs like the arena expansion.
