The holiday season is a time for giving, and Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Huron is continuing its cherished tradition with the “Adopt a Child” campaign. While the campaign wraps up this weekend, there is still time to ensure that a child in need will see presents under the tree this Christmas.
This year, the organization is supporting 114 children, providing the community with a meaningful way to brighten their holidays. Megan Hartman, the Mentoring Coordinator for Big Brothers Big Sisters, shared that the program involves setting up 21 Christmas trees across the region. Each tree is adorned with ornaments listing gift ideas, along with the child’s clothing and shoe sizes.
Residents are invited to take an ornament, purchase gifts for the child, and return them unwrapped by Sunday, December 8th. Gifts can be dropped off at the same location where the ornament was picked up, at another participating tree location, or at the Little Shop in Exeter.
Additionally, stocking stuffer items are being collected at Dollar Tree in Exeter.
Hartman emphasized the impact of the campaign, describing the gratitude and joy expressed by families when they receive these thoughtful gifts.
With no limit on the number of ornaments individuals can take, the campaign invites everyone to join in spreading holiday cheer. For more details, visit the Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Huron Facebook page or contact their office directly.
This holiday season, consider making a difference in a child’s life—because every small act of kindness brings a big smile.
