The Exeter Business Improvement Area (BIA) has been awarded a $10,000 grant from Huron County Economic Development to help local businesses improve security. This funding comes in response to recent increases in crime, theft, and suspicious activities in the community.
The grant will assist businesses in installing outdoor cameras, better lighting, and other security measures. These improvements aim to support local businesses and the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in creating a safer community through prevention.
The first $5,000 of the grant will be distributed by the end of January 2025, based on the number of businesses that apply and the potential impact on community safety. Businesses that have installed outdoor cameras or lighting since May 2024 can submit their invoices for reimbursement. A second $5,000 will be available after the initial funds have been distributed and results have been reported to Huron County.
Businesses must submit invoices to the Exeter BIA in person or via email at info@exeterbia.com by January 24, 2025, to qualify for the first round of funding.
To further support businesses, the Exeter BIA has partnered with local suppliers to offer members-only discounts on security equipment and services. These exclusive deals allow businesses to purchase and maintain their security systems locally.
The Exeter BIA encourages all eligible businesses to take advantage of this opportunity to enhance safety for the community.
