A tow truck operator was injured on December 4th after being hit by a vehicle that did not stop at the scene in South Huron.
Just before 5:30 p.m., Huron County OPP and paramedics responded to a report of a truck hitting a pedestrian on Airport Line, between Huron Street and Thames Road East. Emergency workers found the injured tow operator, who was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
The truck involved was last seen driving north on Airport Line.
Police found that the tow operator had earlier helped pull the suspect vehicle out of a snow-filled ditch. While waiting for payment, the driver sped off, hitting the tow operator and throwing them into the ditch.
The OPP identified the vehicle and its driver, who was charged on December 6th. A 21-year-old from London, faces charges for dangerous operation, assault with a weapon, failure to stop after an accident, and fraud under $5,000.
