The Huron County Accessibility Advisory Committee (HCAAC) has announced the winners of its 2024 Accessibility Awards in celebration of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. These awards honor individuals, businesses, and public organizations in Huron County that have made outstanding efforts to promote accessibility and inclusion within their communities.
The Cannabis Guys were celebrated for employing people with disabilities and enhancing accessibility in their workplace.
Eddington’s of Exeter was recognized for making significant accessibility improvements to its historic building.
The Listowel-Wingham & Area Family Health Team has designed its clinic to cater to everyone’s needs, featuring wide hallways, an elevator, accessible washrooms, and a specially equipped exam room.
The Municipality of South Huron was honored for its renovations at the South Huron Recreation Centre. The upgrades include accessible parking, automatic doors, emergency call systems, and a viewing platform, making community events and activities more inclusive.
The Township of North Huron received recognition for its Council Chambers’ accessible design.
The HCAAC commended all award winners for their commitment to creating a community where everyone can participate fully, emphasizing the importance of continuing efforts to build an inclusive future in Huron County.
