A Snow Squall Watch is in effect for Goderich, Bluewater, and Southern Huron County. Lake effect snow squalls are expected to begin this evening, bringing heavy snowfall with total amounts between 15 and 30 cm. Snowfall could reach rates of 2 to 4 cm per hour, and visibility may be reduced at times due to heavy snow and blowing snow.
The snow is expected to start this evening and continue until Wednesday afternoon. Strong northwesterly winds, gusting up to 50 km/h, may cause blowing snow, especially in areas near Lake Huron. The snow squalls will become more organized tonight but should weaken and move out by Wednesday afternoon.
Weather conditions can change quickly during snow squalls, shifting from clear skies to heavy snow within a short distance. Visibility can drop suddenly, and snow accumulation may make travel on roads, walkways, and parking lots challenging.
