A Snow Squall Warning is in effect for Goderich, Bluewater, and Southern Huron County, with snow squalls continuing today.
The region can expect lake effect snow with an additional 10 to 20 cm of snowfall. Visibility will be reduced in heavy snow and local blowing snow.
The snow will persist throughout today and tonight. A heavy band of lake effect snow from Lake Huron will move northward this morning as the wind shifts to the west. These westerly winds, gusting up to 60 km/h, will continue to bring snow through the day and night, causing reduced visibility due to blowing snow.
Snow squalls can lead to quickly changing weather, with clear skies turning to heavy snow within a few kilometers. Visibility may drop to near zero at times. Traveling could be dangerous in these conditions.
If you are driving and visibility is poor, turn on your lights and keep a safe distance from other vehicles. It is best to postpone non-essential travel until the weather improves.
