President Donald Trump says he will delay tariffs on Canadian goods until at least March 1st.
After a “good call” with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Trump agreed to hold off on a 25% tariff on Canadian goods and a 10% tariff on energy exports for at least a month while both countries try to reach an agreement. The same delay applies to Mexico.
The announcement came after Trudeau promised to strengthen security at Canada’s border and appoint someone to stop fentanyl from entering the U.S. A new $1.3 billion border plan will include helicopters, new technology, and 10,000 border officers.
