It’s Crabby Joe’s game day. The Exeter Hawks face off against Lucan tonight at 8pm at the South Huron Recreation Centre in Exeter.
Nolan Grubb, the centerman for the Exeter Hawks, has been a key player for the team, wearing jersey number 10 with pride. Originally from Amherstburg, Ontario, Nolan started playing hockey at a young age, following in his father’s footsteps.
His journey to the Hawks wasn’t immediate—he was cut in his first tryout but made the team the following year. Now in his second season, he’s enjoying every moment of it.
Nolan chose to play center because he enjoys being active all over the ice. Defense felt too slow for him, and he prefers staying involved in the offensive game.
As a second-year player, he has taken on a leadership role, guiding rookies while also learning from the older players.
The Hawks have had a strong season, and Nolan believes they have what it takes to win the Yeck Division. He credits the team’s success to the new talent added this year, as well as the hard work and dedication of the entire squad.
One of the highlights of playing in Exeter, Nolan says, is the incredible fan support.
The energy in the arena every Friday night is something he has never experienced before, and it motivates the team to play their best.
With the Hawks aiming for a deep playoff run, Nolan has his sights set on winning the Yeck Division and, ultimately, the Schmaltz Cup.
As they prepare for their next home game against Lucan, he encourages fans to keep cheering loudly, as their support makes a huge difference on the ice.
Go and cheer on your hometown Hawks! Come before or after the game and fuel up at Crabby Joe’s in Exeter!
