Families in Huron-Bruce are once again left without emergency care as the Clinton Public Hospital ER is set to close from 8:00 p.m. on Friday, February 14th, until 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, February 16th, due to a staffing shortage. This means the community will go without emergency services for 36 hours.
Ontario NDP candidate Nick McGregor is calling out Premier Doug Ford and local MPP Lisa Thompson, saying their government has failed to address ongoing healthcare shortages.
“This is not okay,” said McGregor. “Emergency care is not a luxury—it’s a necessity. But after seven years of Conservative cuts and neglect, Clinton still doesn’t have overnight ER service, and closures like this keep happening. Doug Ford and Lisa Thompson have failed our communities, making it harder for people to get the care they need.”
Since 2019, Clinton’s ER has been running on reduced hours due to a lack of staff, a problem the government has not solved. Now, another closure will force residents to travel even farther for emergency care, putting more pressure on patients, families, and paramedics.
