The Municipality of South Huron has introduced the RZone Policy to ensure a respectful and safe environment at municipal properties, events, and programs. This policy applies to everyone, including staff, visitors, and participants, and sets clear expectations for behavior.
The RZone Policy is designed to prevent inappropriate actions such as threats, violence, harassment, vandalism, and illegal drug or alcohol use. It applies to all municipal facilities, vehicles, and locations where staff are present, as well as written and verbal communications. Signs will be posted at municipal properties to remind the public of these rules.
If someone witnesses inappropriate behavior, they should report it to municipal staff. Staff will first issue a verbal warning and, if necessary, contact the police. Incidents must be documented in an RZone Incident Report, which is reviewed by municipal officials. Those who violate the policy may receive a warning, be removed from the premises, or even face a temporary or permanent ban, depending on the severity of the situation.
Anyone who causes damage to municipal property will be responsible for repair costs. Individuals who wish to appeal any action taken against them can present their case to South Huron Council within 14 days, with the council’s decision being final.
The municipality will provide training to staff and volunteers to ensure the policy is enforced fairly and effectively. By working together, South Huron aims to create a welcoming and respectful environment for everyone.
