Independent candidate Justin Smith is making a second run for federal office in Huron–Bruce, hoping to bring what he calls a voice for accountability and fairness to Ottawa.
Born in Goderich in 1988, Smith holds an honours degree in law and justice from Laurentian University, and completed the Police Foundations program at Cambrian College.
He’s volunteered across Ontario in roles supporting the homeless, veterans and public safety. He currently serves as secretary for Huron-Perth Crime Stoppers and volunteers with Huron & Area Search and Rescue.
As part of 90.5 myFM’s continuing series on federal election candidates, Smith told myFM why he has stepped up for the Election as an independent.
Smith says his independent status offers voters a unique perspective.
Smith says rebuilding public trust and repairing relationships are among his top priorities in the upcoming campaign.
Smith first ran in 2021 as an Independent, finishing fifth. He now manages Parsons Used Furniture in Goderich and remains involved in grassroots advocacy. He says transparency and accountability will shape his platform this time around.
As for why the people of Huron-Bruce should vote for Justin L. Smith, he told myFM why.
