A serious two-vehicle crash on New Year’s Day in Huron East has led to criminal charges, after a 32-year-old resident of Central Huron lost their life.
The collision happened just after 1:35 p.m. on January 1, 2025. Emergency crews from the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Huron County Paramedic Services, and North Huron Fire Department responded to the scene on Blyth Road near Hensall Road.
When first responders arrived, they found that the crash involved a sport utility vehicle and a truck pulling a cattle trailer. The driver of the truck was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the SUV was not injured. Neither vehicle had passengers.
The OPP’s West Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement Team (TIME) helped with the investigation.
As a result, a 25-year-old from North Huron, was formally charged on April 8, 2025, with dangerous driving causing death.
