Gregory McLean is stepping into the political spotlight for the first time as the Green Party candidate for Huron-Bruce in the upcoming federal election. A long-time resident of Bruce County and current municipal councillor for Brockton, McLean is no stranger to public service or the needs of his community.
McLean believes Huron-Bruce deserves a Green voice in Parliament—something the riding has not had in past elections.
One of the Green Party’s biggest differences, he notes, is that candidates aren’t forced to vote along party lines.
When it comes to priorities, McLean is focused on both short- and long-term needs. In the immediate future, he says tariffs and economic uncertainty—especially for farmers and small businesses—must be addressed.
McLean also hopes to push for a more fair electoral system. He supports moving away from the current “first-past-the-post” system, where candidates can win without a majority of the vote.
McLean plans to spend the campaign connecting with voters across Huron-Bruce and listening to voices that are often left out of the conversation.
Above all, McLean is encouraging people to get involved in the election, regardless of who they support.
Tomorrow we will wrap up our candidate features for Huron-Bruce.
