Huron County OPP has charged a man after a number of trees were illegally cut down on conservation land in the Township of North Huron.
Police say they received a complaint on March 31st about damage in a wooded area near Victoria and Helena Streets. The land is owned by the Maitland Valley Conservation Authority (MVCA).
Officers found that 27 mature trees had been cut down, and a log home was being built in the area. After an investigation, police arrested a suspect on April 13th. The MVCA says the total value of the damage is about $27,000.
A 34-year-old with no fixed address, has been charged with mischief over $5,000.
Police are asking anyone with more information about the case to contact Huron OPP.
