Huron County OPP had a busy Easter long weekend as they took part in a province-wide seatbelt safety campaign and worked hard to keep drivers safe.
Only three collisions were reported in Huron County during the weekend, and all involved only property damage or minor injuries.
During the four-day campaign, Huron OPP officers gave out 19 seatbelt charges to drivers and passengers who were not properly buckled up. Officers also dealt with aggressive drivers, laying 66 speeding charges, two distracted driving charges, and three charges for stunt driving or racing. Two drivers were charged with impaired driving. In total, Huron OPP officers laid 130 charges and handed out 62 warnings during the weekend.
The OPP thanked all drivers and road users who helped keep highways and roads safe during the busy holiday weekend.
The OPP continues traffic enforcement every day and remains committed to saving lives on Ontario’s roads, waterways, and trails.
The Easter Weekend Seatbelt Campaign took place from April 18th to April 21st.
