May is Community Living Month across Ontario, a time dedicated to celebrating inclusion and recognizing the talents, strengths, and contributions of people with developmental disabilities.
Katie Fox, Co-Executive Director of Community Living South Huron, says the month is about more than awareness.
Although society has come a long way in recognizing people with developmental disabilities as employees, volunteers, and neighbours, Fox says there’s still more to be done.
Fox says it is important to keep moving forward and celebrating every step towards total inclusion.
As part of the celebrations, Community Living South Huron is marking a major milestone with the opening of its new administration office in Exeter. The move from Dashwood to Exeter’s downtown core is more than a change of address, it symbolizes a step forward.
The organization is hosting an open house on May 21st from 1 to 4 p.m. at 392 Main Street in Exeter.
