Victoria Day is just around the corner on Monday, May 19th, and it’s shaping up sunny with a high of 16 degrees. There will be plenty of time to relax and enjoy the unofficial start of summer.
If you’re heading out, remember that many local businesses will be giving their staff a well-earned break. Some stores, however, will remain open for those last-minute needs. In Exeter, Hansen’s Independent Grocer and Foodland will both be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. In Grand Bend, Sobey’s will be open regular hours from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Still, it’s always a good idea to check with your local store before heading out.
Government offices, banks, libraries, and most municipal services will be closed for the holiday, as will LCBO and Beer Store locations. Some federal services, including passport offices and Canada Post, will stay open.
For health needs, emergency departments will be open as usual. Some outpatient clinics may be closed, but emergency services remain available for anyone who needs urgent care.
As always, the Victoria Day weekend brings more people into our communities. Whether you’re a local or a visitor, be sure to share the road, be patient, and show kindness to others around you.
From all of us at myFM, have a safe and happy long weekend! We’ll be back with more local news on Tuesday.
