Ferguson Apiaries has been producing delicious honey and supporting the community for more than 58 years. The family-run business, located between Hensall and Zurich, is proudly Canadian and locally operated. Manager Matt Ferguson says the business began when his father was a high school student looking for work. He found a job with a local honey company and fell in love with the bees. Eventually, he bought the business himself—and Ferguson Apiaries was born.
The name “apiaries” simply means “bee farm,” and it made perfect sense to call the business Ferguson Apiaries once it became a family operation. Since then, the business has grown to sell not only honey and honey products, but also miniature hives called “nukes” and queen bees to other beekeepers.
Matt says supporting local has always been a big part of their work. Beekeeping relies on partnerships with nearby farmers and orchard owners, who provide space on their land for hives. These relationships keep both the bees and the local food supply healthy and strong.
Being a Canadian-owned business is something Ferguson Apiaries takes pride in. Every product is made with Canadian ingredients, by Canadian hands, right here in the community.
Ferguson Apiaries is proud to be part of the Huron County business landscape and plans to keep producing sweet, local honey for years to come.
