Today is Proudly Canadian, Proudly Local day here on myFM, sponsored by Libro Credit Union!
Williamson Farms Country Store in Forest is more than just a shop, it’s a celebration of Canadian farming, food, and community. Located at 14 King Street West in Forest, the store is co-owned and operated by Chris Williamson, who brings over 50 years of retail experience to the business.
For the past 15 years, Williamson has built the store around her family’s farm, offering a mix of farm-fresh meats, maple syrup, and homemade treats like fudge, along with games, toys, collectibles, and a wide variety of Ontario and Canadian-made foods.
The roots of the store go deep. Williamson’s family farm was first purchased in 1905 by her husband’s ancestors, and the farm still helps supply the store today. The pork comes from a nearby neighbour, the chicken from just outside of Forest, and the store’s honey is produced locally too.
Williamson has noticed that more and more customers are asking where products come from and she’s proud to say many items in her store are from truly Canadian companies, including some based in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Quebec, Ontario, Alberta, and British Columbia.
When asked why buying Canadian and supporting local matters, Williamson says it’s all about giving back.
