The Municipality of South Huron is reminding residents to prepare for a possible disruption to Canada Post mail service, expected to begin Friday, May 23rd.
To avoid delays in receiving and paying utility bills, customers are encouraged to sign up for e-billing or use other payment options. These include online banking, pre-authorized payments, or paying in person at municipal offices.
Even if mail delivery is affected, residents are still responsible for making sure their payments arrive on time. Late charges will still apply if bills are not paid by the due date.
For more information or help with setting up a payment method, residents can visit the Utility Billing section at southhuron.ca or call the municipal office at 519-235-0310.
Meanwhile, Canada Post and the union representing postal workers continue to negotiate. Canada Post has offered a new deal that includes a 13.6% wage increase over four years, along with protections for pensions, benefits, and job security. It also includes new ideas like weekend parcel delivery and part-time roles with benefits.
The union is still reviewing the offer but says there are several concerns that still need to be addressed.
South Huron thanks everyone for their understanding and encourages residents to plan ahead and stay informed.
