Huron County Paramedic Services has launched a helpful new tool to support emergency care in local homes. The Cool Aid Program encourages residents to keep important medical information on a special card placed on their fridge.
The card is simple to use. People write down their prescription medications, dosages, allergies, medical history, and emergency contact numbers. Thanks to a built-in magnet, the card can be easily attached to the fridge, a place paramedics are trained to check during emergencies. The front of the card folds closed, keeping personal details private from guests.
The name “Cool Aid” is a play on words, as it reminds people to store the card on their “cool” fridge and highlights that it helps aid first responders in critical moments.
Huron County Paramedic Services hopes that everyone living with a medical condition or taking prescription medications will fill out a card and keep it in their home. Having this information ready can save valuable time during an emergency and help paramedics provide the best care possible.
Residents can find Cool Aid cards at any pharmacy in Huron County, most local municipal offices, and at family health teams across the region.
