Families are invited to a free car seat safety clinic this Saturday, May 31st, at the South Huron Fire Hall in Exeter. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is hosted by four community partners.
Diane Millian, Children’s Services Supervisor for Huron County explains the event.
The goal of the clinic is to help parents and caregivers make sure their children are riding safely in vehicles.
Even though most kids are buckled, there’s still a risk if the car seat isn’t used properly. This clinic gives families the chance to learn how to safely install their car seats and adjust them for the best protection.
No appointments are needed for the clinic, just drop in at 55 William Street during the event hours. Trained technicians will check each car seat and help adjust or reinstall it if needed. The inspection could take anywhere from a few minutes to 45 minutes, depending on the seat and the vehicle.
In addition to car seat checks, there will be activities for children run by EarlyON staff, and South Huron firefighters will be on-site sharing important fire safety tips.
