The Bluewater Recycling Association has a message for everyone: Please don’t steal the wheelie garbage and recycling bins. And definitely don’t try to sell them.
The organization recently discovered that some people have been taking the recycling bins from homes and trying to sell them. But here’s the thing, those bins are not for sale! They’re company property and are meant to stay at the address they were given to.
Bluewater Recycling says their system can tell when a bin is being used at the wrong address. If that happens, it sends up a red flag, and the team will come to pick it up. So, if you buy a stolen bin, you won’t be getting recycling service, you’ll just end up with a useless bin and a bit of a headache.
The team is asking residents to help keep the community clean and fair. If you see any suspicious bin-related behaviour, report it and maybe remind your neighbours that if they’re trying to turn recycling bins into side hustle gold, they might want to think again.
