Young aviation enthusiasts will have the chance to take to the skies during this year’s Discover Aviation event hosted by COPA Flight 177 at Sexsmith Airport.
The event, set for Saturday, June 7th invites kids between the ages of 8 and 18 to enjoy a free airplane ride with local volunteer pilots.
Event coordinator Dave Podbury says Discover Aviation is all about giving back and sharing a love for flying with the next generation.
Flights will be around 15 minutes long, and registration is required in advance. Spots are limited, with about nine pilots offering rides between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. In previous years, up to 160 kids have participated.
The experience is designed to introduce young people to the magic of flight, many for the very first time.
Podbury says that while the event is scheduled for June 7th, weather conditions could move the event to June 8th. Safety, as always, comes first when it comes to flying.
