A single-vehicle crash on June 4 has closed part of Perth Road 145 and caused damage to a railway bridge near the community of Fullarton.
Perth County OPP say the crash happened at the Goderich-Exeter Railway (GEXR) bridge, just south of Perth Line 34. The bridge was damaged, and train traffic had to be stopped while repairs are being made. There is no word yet on when trains will start running again.
As a result of the crash, a 47-year-old man from Stratford has been charged with careless driving under the Highway Traffic Act.
Police say the section of Perth Road 145 between Perth Line 34 and Perth Line 32 will remain closed for about a week. Drivers are being asked to avoid the area and take alternate routes.
The Perth County OPP is reminding all drivers to pay close attention to road signs and always check for height and weight limits when driving, especially near bridges and underpasses.
