Huron County is continuing its efforts to support people who don’t have a place to live. The County has added new programs and built stronger partnerships to help people find safe and stable housing.
At a recent council meeting, Jayme Koskamp, Manager of Housing Services, shared an update. She explained that this work started back in 2014 when the County formed a team to look for long-term solutions to homelessness. Since then, support has grown each year. In 2024, a new system was launched to make sure people get the right help at the right time.
The new system is called “coordinated access.” It helps connect people to housing and other support services and makes sure help is given fairly.
Koskamp also talked about a “by-name list,” which keeps track of people in Huron County who are experiencing homelessness. Between April 2024 and March 2025, 161 households were added to the list. Some of them have already found homes, while others are still getting help or have lost contact with the County.
