The Sunset Community Foundation has officially launched the South Huron 500 Club, a new way for people to support lasting change in their community. The idea is simple and powerful. With a one-time donation of $500, anyone can join the 500 Club and become part of a growing legacy of giving.
Each donation supports the South Huron 500 Club Fund, which is part of the larger South Huron Community Fund. Once the fund reaches $50,000, it will become an official Named Fund. At that point, members will vote each spring to decide which local charity will receive the fund’s yearly grant. Even before reaching the $50,000 goal, interest earned from early donations will start helping the community.
The club was introduced at the South Huron Funds Grant Awards on May 22nd, 2025, where it received a warm welcome. Attendees committed $7,500 in donations that evening, showing strong support for the idea. This early success shows how eager the South Huron community is to build a steady source of funding for important local projects.
The 500 Club builds on past successes in South Huron. In 2020, the municipality partnered with the Sunset Community Foundation to create the Vitality Fund. That fund has grown into part of a larger group of South Huron funds now worth over $351,000. These include contributions from local families and individuals who want to support their community for years to come.
