A long-standing local sports tradition is coming to a close, and the ringette community is invited to help say goodbye.
On Sunday, June 22nd, former players, coaches, parents, and executive members of Exeter-Seaforth Ringette are invited to attend a farewell celebration at the Hensall Community Centre Pavilion from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The event will honour more than 40 years of ringette in the Exeter and Seaforth area.
We spoke with organizer Alana Hodgert, a former coach and past executive member.
The association is doing a final hurrah to celebrate the legacy the association is leaving behind.
The farewell event will include time to reconnect with old teammates and coaches, enjoy photo displays, and watch video highlights from past seasons. Around 3 p.m., organizers will present donation cheques to local charities using the association’s remaining funds. There are also plans for a special guest speaker, someone who previously played ringette in the area.
The event is meant for those who have ties to the Exeter-Seaforth Ringette community, including anyone who ever played, coached, volunteered, or supported the association over the years.
Through the years, countless families, volunteers, and athletes helped keep the sport alive locally. Even though the association is closing, the legacy of teamwork, sportsmanship, and community spirit it built will be remembered for years to come.
