Bayfield’s scenic Canada Day Walk is returning on Tuesday, July 1st, and promises a fun, relaxed way to celebrate the holiday in the great outdoors.
Ralph Blasting, hike coordinator for Bayfield Trails explains the event.
The walk will begin at 10 a.m. at the pavilion in Clan Gregor Square. Participants don’t need to register, just show up, wear your red and white, and enjoy the stroll. The event is meant to bring people together in a casual and festive setting.
The route travels down Bayfield’s Main Street and continues under the Bayfield Bridge to the River Flats, a scenic area known for its natural beauty, wildlife, and river access. The trail through the Flats is flat and easy to navigate, and walkers can choose how far they’d like to go. The full route takes about an hour.
Participants are encouraged to wear weather-appropriate clothing, comfortable shoes, and a hat, and to bring water. The event is expected to go ahead rain or shine, unless the weather turns severe. Updates will be posted on the Bayfield Trails Facebook page.
The walk is free and open to everyone, but participants will be asked to sign a waiver as part of the event’s insurance requirements.
