A Goderich resident is facing an impaired driving charge after an unusual incident in Central Huron earlier this month.
On Monday, June 9th, just after 7:00 p.m., Huron County OPP officers met with an individual at the OPP detachment on Albert Street in Clinton for an unrelated matter. During the visit, officers noticed signs that the person had been drinking alcohol before driving to the detachment.
The man was arrested and taken for breath testing by a qualified technician. Test results showed his blood alcohol level was over the legal limit.
As a result, a 42-year-old of Goderich has been charged with operating a vehicle while impaired. His vehicle was towed and held for seven days, and his driver’s license has been suspended for 90 days.
Police continue to remind drivers that impaired driving is a serious offence that puts everyone at risk. Always plan ahead and find a safe way home.
