People in Exeter, Grand Bend, Goderich, Seaforth and nearby areas have lots of ways to celebrate Canada Day this year. From free swims to big concerts and fireworks, there’s something for everyone to enjoy on Tuesday, July 1.
In Exeter, families can cool off at the Exeter Pool with two free public swims. Thanks to the Tanner Steffler Foundation and the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario, you can swim for free from 1 to 3 p.m. or again from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
Goderich is getting ready for a full day of fun. The day starts at 10 a.m. with the 22nd Annual Goderich Children’s Festival at Lion’s Harbour Park. Kids can enjoy inflatables, obstacle courses, a petting zoo, live shows, and the always popular Touch a Truck with Bruinsma Excavating. The festival runs until 2 p.m. Later, at 2 p.m., the Canada Day Parade will make its way through town. Anyone who hasn’t signed up yet can still join by meeting the Parade Marshals at South Street and Elgin Avenue.
Over in Seaforth, the fire department is kicking off the day with a big community breakfast at the Seaforth Fire Hall. From 7 a.m. until noon, people can enjoy a hearty meal while supporting local firefighters.
Meanwhile, Grand Bend is planning one of the biggest Canada Day parties in Southwestern Ontario. The fun starts at 1 p.m. with an afternoon of live concerts right at the beach. The day will end with a bang as fireworks light up the sky at 10 p.m.
With so many events planned, people across Huron County have plenty of chances to come together, enjoy time with family and friends, and celebrate Canada’s birthday in style.
If you are headed to Grand Bend to watch the firework show, and enjoy the beach party, keep in mind there will be increased traffic from visitors and with that increased OPP patrols.
Be sure to share the road, our community, and your kindness with visitors as we take the time to celebrate Canada’s birthday.
