A small tornado touched down near Lucan today around 3:30 p.m. The Northern Tornadoes Project says it was an EF0 tornado, which is the weakest type. It caused only minor damage, such as some broken tree branches and a bit of crop damage. Thankfully, no one was hurt.
The good news is the evening celebrations will still go ahead. Fireworks and music are set for tonight at the Community Centre lower soccer fields. DJ Dave will start playing at 8:45 p.m., and fireworks will light up the sky at 10 p.m. Because the baseball diamonds are too wet, everyone is asked to watch from the lower soccer fields. The ground will be damp, so it’s a good idea to bring lawn chairs.
Sadly, the food trucks can’t make it, so bring your own snacks. A big thank you goes to the Bryanston Birr Optimist Club for all their volunteer work getting the fireworks ready so quickly after the storm.
See you there for a fun night of music, fireworks, and community spirit!
