Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a Huron East resident with impaired driving after a traffic stop at a RIDE checkpoint on June 21st in Huron East.
Just after 2:30 p.m. that Saturday, officers were running a RIDE check at Morrison Line and Rogerville Road when they saw a vehicle try to avoid the stop. Police pulled the vehicle over shortly after on Hensall Road.
The driver was arrested for impaired driving and taken to the Huron OPP detachment in Clinton, where they provided breath samples that were over the legal limit.
As a result, a 49-year-old from Huron East has been charged with impaired operation by alcohol and drugs, driving with a blood alcohol concentration over 80, and driving while prohibited. He also faces several charges under the Highway Traffic Act and the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act.
Police say they will continue to keep roads safe by watching for impaired drivers and encourage everyone to drive responsibly.
