People in Huron County who want to start or grow a small business can now apply for the 2025 Starter Company Plus program.
The program offers training, one-on-one coaching, and mentorship to help new and existing business owners succeed. Participants also have the chance to apply for a grant of up to $5,000.
To apply, people must send in a completed form by 4:00 p.m. on July 31st, 2025. After that, selected applicants will be invited to a short interview. Final decisions will be made by mid-August.
From September to November, those accepted into the program will take part in training sessions focused on business planning, budgeting, marketing, and more. Each participant will also get one-on-one support and expert advice.
Anyone hoping to receive the grant must complete a full Business Plan Package, which includes a business plan, cash flow projections, and other planning tools. At the end, they will give a 10-minute pitch to a panel for a chance at the funding.
The program is run by the County of Huron with help from the Province of Ontario. It is open to entrepreneurs of all ages and experience levels and may focus on certain industries depending on local needs.
