The Northern Tornadoes Project (NTP) has confirmed that three tornadoes touched down near Goderich on Saturday, July 26th. No injuries were reported.
The first tornado formed over Lake Huron, linked to a strong and long-lasting supercell thunderstorm. While photos and videos showed the tornado clearly, there was no damage, so it received a default EF0 rating.
As the storm moved inland, it weakened for a short time but then picked up strength again near Potter’s Hill, where it produced a second tornado. A drone and ground survey revealed damage caused by winds reaching up to 125 kilometres per hour. This storm also received an EF0 rating.
Later, the same thunderstorm developed a new rotation and formed a third tornado near Harlock. This tornado had wind speeds estimated at 90 kilometres per hour and was also rated EF0.
