Emergency crews rushed to a major fire at an apartment building in Goderich late Friday night.
Around 11:20 p.m. on August 1st, Huron County OPP, the Goderich Fire Department, and Huron EMS responded to the fire on Nelson Street. The building was fully in flames when they arrived.
Firefighters are still working to put out the fire. Police have closed off Nelson Street between Cambria Road North and Albert Street, and they’re asking people to stay away from the area. Some nearby homes on Brock Street and Nelson Street East were evacuated for safety. A warming centre has been set up at the Knights of Columbus hall at 390 Parsons Court.
Thankfully, no injuries have been reported.
The Office of the Fire Marshal has been called in to investigate. More updates will be shared as they become available.
