The Bayfield River Valley Trail Association and Huron Tract Land Trust Conservancy are inviting the public to a special evening at Bayfield Town Hall to celebrate improvements at the Bayfield River Flats Natural Area.
The event takes place on Wednesday, August 27th, 2025, from 7 to 9 p.m., with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. Organizers are calling it an evening of fun, community spirit, and learning.
Guests will hear short presentations about the history of the Bayfield River Flats, the work of the trail association and land trust, and two exciting new projects at the natural area. One is the creation of a canoe and kayak launch. The other focuses on protecting fish habitat and using natural methods to prevent riverbank erosion.
Thanks to a major donation from a local community member, the canoe and kayak launch is closer than ever to becoming a reality. The fundraising team is now working to raise $20,000 to finish the project. Any extra funds raised will go toward upkeep of the Bayfield River Flats Natural Area.
More information and ways to donate can be found at htltc.ca/bayfield-river-flats and bayfieldtrails.com.
