Murray’s Miles is back this Sunday at McNaughton Park in Exeter for its eighth annual fundraising walk. The event is dedicated to raising money and awareness for esophageal cancer.
The walk was started in 2017 by Nicole Insley after her father, Murray, was diagnosed with the disease.
Insley noted this event was created due lack of other fundraising events for the disease.
She also mentioned that unfortunately, this type of cancer is often caught too late.
The treatment for the cancer is also very aggressive.
The event itself features a five-kilometre walk along the Morrison Trail, starting at McNaughton Park.
Insley says it’s rewarding to see more survivors attending each year, proof that progress is being made.
Murray’s Miles runs rain or shine, with the pavilion at McNaughton Park providing cover if needed.
