Huron County OPP is warning the public about a scam after a local teenager lost $5,000.
On August 5th, a 19-year-old from Central Huron got a phone call from someone pretending to be from her bank. The caller claimed her bank cards had been compromised and said someone would come to her home to collect them. Shortly after, a man arrived by car and took her cards. The victim later discovered that $5,000 had been stolen from her accounts.
Police are investigating and are asking anyone with information to contact them.
“This is a good time to remind everyone to never give out your PIN or passwords to anyone,” said Provincial Constable Craig Soldan. “Banks will never come to your home to pick up debit or credit cards.”
