The Municipality of Bluewater is once again offering fall leaf collection in its urban areas this autumn. The program will run in Bayfield, Brucefield, Dashwood, Hensall, Kippen, Varna and Zurich from Tuesday, October 14th to Wednesday, November 19th. Collection will take place on a rolling basis during this time, which means leaves will not be picked up on a set day.
For lakeshore areas west of Highway 21, collection will take place on Friday, November 7th. The municipality notes that weather conditions may cause changes to the schedule.
Residents are reminded that all leaves must be placed in paper bags, as plastic bags will not be accepted. Items such as brush, branches, sticks, sod, garbage, or animal waste should not be included. Bagged leaves must be placed at the curb by 7 a.m. on collection days. Leaves piled together in central locations within associations will not be collected, and bags placed out after November 7th in the lakeshore areas will not be picked up.
As an alternative, residents can take leaves and brush to the Stanley Landfill during regular hours at no cost. A green waste depot is also available at the Municipal Shop in Zurich on Blind Line.
