Communities in Huron County are getting ready to take part in this year’s Terry Fox Run, with events planned in Goderich, Wingham and Exeter.
In Wingham, the 37th annual run will take place at the Lions Picnic Shelter by the splash pad. Last year’s event saw 262 participants raise a record $37,225 for cancer research. Organizers say the run is less about competition and more about coming together to honour those who are fighting cancer and remembering those who have lost their battle. Registration opens at 10 a.m., with the walk, run, or bike starting at 11 a.m. A free community barbecue will follow. People can bring donations on the day of the event or donate and register online through the Terry Fox Foundation.
Exeter will host its Terry Fox Run at MacNaughton Park. That event is set for Sunday, September 14th, beginning at 10 a.m.
Goderich will also host it’s event on Sunday September 14th, with registration set for 12:30pm at the Kinsmen Centre – 185 Keays St.
All of the events are part of the nationwide Terry Fox Run, which continues Terry’s dream of raising funds for life-changing cancer research. This year’s national date is Sunday, September 14th. Organizers encourage everyone to take part, whether by running, walking, biking, or simply coming out to show support.
