It’s Crabby Joe’s game day! The Exeter Hawks face off against North Middlesex tonight at 8pm at the South Huron Recreation Centre in Exeter.
The Exeter Hawks are kicking off their new season with a familiar face leading the way. Defenceman Ryder Livermore has been named captain for the 2025-26 season, a role he says means a lot as he closes out his junior hockey career at home.
Livermore, grew up in Exeter and started skating when he was just three or four years old. Inspired by his dad and surrounded by friends who also played, hockey quickly became a big part of his life.
He began in South Huron minor hockey, later moving on to the Huron-Perth Lakers and then the Cambridge Hawks. After COVID interrupted his development years, Livermore returned to the ice with the Exeter Hawks, before spending time with the Listowel Cyclones and St. Marys Lincolns in Junior B. Now, he’s back in Exeter for his final season of junior hockey.
Though he started as a forward, Livermore found his home on defence in his early years with the Lakers.
The Hawks’ locker room already feels tight-knit according to Livermore. Many of the players grew up together, go to school together, and even live close by.
Livermore says he’s also looking forward to the return of the fans, who have always been an important part of the team’s success.
Ahead of the Hawks’ first game of the season, Livermore has a simple message for the fans.
Go tonight and cheer on your hometown Hawks! Come before or after the game and fuel up at Crabby Joe’s in Exeter.
