Lambton Shores Mayor Doug Cook says it was a strong summer for tourism in Grand Bend, even when the weather was cooler or rainy.
Now that we are heading into the cooler months, Cook said Lambton Shores has started to see a trend.
Cook explained it could be due to one simple reason.
To bring in more visitors outside of the busy summer season, Lambton Shores will introduce a municipal accommodation tax in January 2026. The 4% levy on short-term rentals and hotels will be used to promote tourism and market the area during what Cook called the “shoulder seasons.”
As winter approaches, the municipality is preparing for road maintenance. Cook said staff are already shifting from summer work.
Parking, bylaws, and safety remain ongoing challenges during the summer, but Cook noted these lessons help staff plan for future years.
With construction work underway once again, the mayor reminded residents and visitors to be patient with delays.
He added that fall is still a beautiful time to visit Grand Bend and that there are plenty of opportunities for winter activities as well.
