The Hensall Legion is inviting the community to take part in this year’s Remembrance Day events, which include a special dinner on Saturday, November 8th, and a service at the cenotaph on Tuesday, November 11th.
Legion President and Poppy and Veterans Chair, Sue Riley, said the annual Remembrance Dinner will take place at the Bluewater Complex auditorium in Hensall.
Tickets cost $30 and can be purchased in advance.
Riley mentioned the dinner has been going on for quite some time now, and for good reason.
She says they have a few Veterans that come to the dinner each year.
The Remembrance Day ceremony will take place on Monday, November 11, at the cenotaph.
Students from Bluewater Coast Elementary School will once again take part in the ceremony, marching from their school to the cenotaph. Riley said it’s important for young people to learn about Canada’s history and understand the sacrifices made by veterans.
Riley thanked all the volunteers, sponsors, and community members who support the poppy campaign and help keep local remembrance efforts strong.
