More part-time jobs improved Canada’s employment rate in October.
Nationally, the economy added 67 thousand new positions with wholesale and retail leading the way. The construction sector was a laggard shedding 15 thousand jobs.
About a fifth of the number of people looking for work in September were employed in October. The average hourly wage increased three and a half percent ($1.27) to just over $37 an hour.
